During October of the same year, Jean-Michel made his epic trip to perform in Peking and Shanghai. In May 1982 'The Concerts in China' double album was released along with the publication of a book and a 1½ hour film about the Chinese performances was made for the British ATV network.
Only in the wake of 1981's Les Chants Magnétiques ("Magnetic Fields") did Jarre mount a proper tour, traveling to China with a staggering amount of stage equipment in tow; the five shows, performed by some 35 traditional instrumentalists, later generated the double LP The Concerts in China.
